SANTA MONICA POLICE DEPARTMENT: Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute

Cocaine and weed

Santa Monica Police Department issued the following announcement on Feb. 10. 

On February 7, 2022 at about 9:30 PM, Santa Monica Police (SMPD) Officers responded to a shots fired call in the area of the 1500 block of 7th Street. The reporting party indicated that a red truck was seen fleeing the area at a high rate of speed.   SMPD officers located a Red Dodge pickup truck and initiated a traffic stop of that vehicle in the 300 block of Colorado Ave.   Officers made contact with the three occupants of the vehicle.   All three had a large amount of cash on their person.  During the course of the officer’s investigation, officers recovered a duffle  bag containing over $58,000 in US currency, and over 9 pounds of vacuum-sealed marijuana inside the vehicle.   Officers placed all three suspects under arrest and transported them to the SMPD Jail.   All three were booked then subsequently cited out for 11359(b) PC – Possession of Marijuana with intent to Distribute.  SMPD Officers were unable to locate any victims or evidence of a shooting.
