Hurricane Helene is set to make landfall in Florida tonight, with storm surges expected to reach up to 20 feet in certain areas. UCLA climate scientist Daniel Swain will address the significant hurricane during a live briefing this evening, Thursday, Sept. 26, at 6 p.m. PT.

Swain's discussion will include a real-time satellite "tour" to explain the current conditions of Hurricane Helene. He will also provide climate context for the hurricane and discuss the ongoing fire weather issues in California. The state has been experiencing extended dry and unusually warm weather, which has implications for the fire season.

The event titled "Office Hours" with Daniel Swain will be available on YouTube at 6 p.m. PT / 9 p.m. ET. Viewers can join the live briefing to ask questions in the chat or watch the recording later using the same link.
