SANTA MONICA POLICE DEPARTMENT: Juvenile Burglary/ Vandalism Arrest

Santa Monica Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 28.

On December 26, 2021, Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) Officers were dispatched to John Muir Elementary School (2526 6th Street) regarding a group of subjects seen jumping over a fence and onto school grounds. 

SMPD officers entered the campus at about 9:05 PM, and immediately located two males in the administration building. Both males ran from police, however shortly after, were detained and 

taken into custody without further incident. 

A subsequent search through the school revealed several shattered windows as well as classrooms and an administration office that were ransacked. Officers also discovered freshly painted graffiti. 

During the incident, an LAPD Airship responded to assist with the search. Officers transported both male juvenile suspects to the SMPD station where they were cited for Burglary and ultimately released into the custody of their parents.
