Los Angeles County home prices fall in February 2025 compared to February 2024

In February, the median sale price of a home in Los Angeles County fell by $135,000 from the same period in the previous year, while total sales increased by 1,720.9%, according to BlockShopper.com.

There were 783 homes sold in February, with a median sale price of $920,000 — a 12.8% decrease from the $1,055,000 median sale price during the same period of the previous year. In comparison, 43 homes were sold in Los Angeles County in February 2024.

Based on the latest available data from 2022, the median sales tax in Los Angeles County was $5,297, which stands at 0.6% of February's median home sale price.

The U.S. housing market has surged in recent years, with its total value approaching $50 trillion in 2024—nearly five times its value in 2000.

“The value of America’s housing market will likely cross the $50 trillion threshold in the next 12 months as there are not enough homes being listed to push prices down,” said Redfin Economics Research Lead Chen Zhao.
