12,727 coaches at institutions in Los Angeles County earned $96,403 on average in 2022

Los Angeles County’s 12,727 coaches earned an average salary of $96,403 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the fourth highest average salary per county earned by coaches at California post-secondary schools during 2022.

Los Angeles County is home to 41 post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, University of Southern California stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $766,151.

Male coaches of men's teams received $142,557 on average in Los Angeles County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $62,270.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
