SANTA MONICA, Calif. (Mar. 26, 2024) — The Santa Monica Fire Department is gearing up for the swearing-in ceremony of Fire Chief Matthew Hallock, scheduled for Wednesday, March 27 at Fire Station 1 on 1337 7th St.
The proceedings will commence at 11 a.m. with Deputy Fire Chief Tom Clemo opening the event, which will feature a presentation of colors by the Santa Monica Fire Department’s Honor Guard. A solemn moment will follow with an invocation led by fire department chaplain Josh Young. Retired Santa Monica Fire Chief Ettore Berandinelli will then share his remarks as part of the ceremony.
The official swearing-in will be conducted by Interim City Clerk Nikima Newsome, with Hallock's wife, Cheryl, participating in a badge pinning ceremony. The culmination of the event will see Fire Chief Matthew Hallock deliver his own closing remarks before attendees are invited to a reception with light refreshments.
Fire Chief Hallock expressed his anticipation for the ceremony, stating, "I am honored to undertake this new role and am grateful for the support of the Santa Monica community."
