SANTA MONICA, Calif. (Mar. 21, 2024) — The City Council of Santa Monica has approved a plan to collaborate with Hollywood Community Housing Corporation to develop affordable and permanent supportive housing on three city-owned sites. The proposed projects, totaling approximately 130 units, are in line with the city’s Housing Element and aim to cater to individuals and families across different income brackets, including those experiencing homelessness.

According to Mayor Phil Brock, "An important part of Santa Monica’s Housing Element is our commitment to dedicate several city-owned properties to advance much-needed affordable housing production. I am glad to see these projects moving forward as part of our city’s strategic effort to address homelessness and continue to build a community where all have the ability to live and thrive."

The development on Euclid St. will specifically focus on providing permanent supportive housing for formerly homeless individuals. The People Concern will lead the provision of supportive services, offering a range of services including mental health support, crisis intervention, therapy, rehabilitation, substance abuse services, and more.

Hollywood Community Housing Corporation was chosen through a competitive selection process based on their experience and qualifications. The next steps involve a community engagement process to gather input on the design and development plan. A revised proposal, incorporating community feedback, is expected to be presented to the council for final approval in 2025.
