CA U.S. House District 33 issued the following announcement on Mar. 14.
Today, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D-Los Angeles County) issued the following statement after the Space Development Agency (SDA) awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation in Redondo Beach a contract worth up to $692 million. The award will support the development and production of a constellation of 42 satellites to deliver quality high-volume data in support of U.S. military operations around the world.
“I am pleased to see this significant investment by the Space Development Agency in our district. This award to Northrop Grumman in Redondo Beach will allow Southern California to continue its tradition of successful satellite assembly and integration to aid crucial military missions globally. Now more than ever, space is critical to both our national security and commercial interests. It is imperative that information be delivered securely and reliably in support of our efforts at home and abroad, and this award will contribute to exactly that. I have supported, and will continue to support, Space Command and fought for Space Systems Command to be located at Los Angeles AFB in El Segundo. Southern California has long led the nation in aerospace research and innovation, and I am proud that our district will continue to have a critical role.”
