UCLA men’s volleyball senior outside hitter Zach Rama has been named the AVCA Men’s National Collegiate Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the AVCA on Tuesday.
This is Rama’s first time receiving the national player of the week honor from the AVCA. Earlier in 2026, he was named MPSF Offensive Player of the Week for two consecutive weeks.
Rama is now the 29th UCLA player to receive this national recognition and becomes the first Bruin honored in 2026. The last UCLA recipient was Cooper Robinson, who earned the award during the week of March 9, 2025.
During recent matches at the First Point Collegiate Challenge in Phoenix, Arizona, Rama led UCLA with a total of 40 kills over two victories against ranked opponents: No. 16 Ball State and No. 6 Loyola Chicago. He averaged 5.71 kills per set and recorded a hitting percentage of .515 across both matches.
In a four-set win over Ball State, Rama posted 17 kills. He then achieved a career-high with 23 kills during a straight-sets victory against Loyola Chicago, finishing that match with a .618 hitting percentage and totaling 23 points from his kills.
UCLA will play its next match at Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom Financial on Thursday against Fort Valley State. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm PT and will be broadcast on B1G+.
