Junior outfielder Will Gasparino has been named UCLA’s Student-Athlete of the Week for his performance in athletic competitions from Feb. 24 to March 2. Gasparino earned the Most Outstanding Player honor at the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series after recording five hits in eleven at-bats, including four home runs, and helping UCLA achieve a 3-0 record against ranked teams.

During the series in Arlington, Gasparino had his third multi-home run game of the season in a 12-5 win over No. 20 Tennessee. He added another home run in UCLA’s victory over No. 23 Texas A&M and hit one more during an extra innings win against No. 4 Mississippi State. Gasparino currently leads the nation with ten home runs this season.

This marks Gasparino’s second time receiving UCLA’s student-athlete of the week award.

Other nominees for this week’s award included Maggie Boyd (Beach Volleyball), Jordan Chiles (Gymnastics), Donovan Dent (Men’s Basketball), Megan Grant (Softball), Spencer Johnson (Men’s Tennis), Charlisse Leger-Walker (Women’s Basketball), Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer (Women’s Tennis), Anna Pearson (Women’s Water Polo), Zach Rama (Men’s Volleyball), and Taylor Snaer (Women’s Indoor Track & Field).

Previous recipients of the weekly honor include athletes from various sports such as women’s soccer, men’s water polo, football, volleyball, basketball, softball, and tennis.
