The UCLA women’s tennis team, ranked No. 10 nationally, will travel to Michigan for two Big Ten Conference matches on March 21 and 22. The Bruins (8-4, 2-2 Big Ten) are set to play No. 28 Michigan at the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor on Saturday at 9 a.m. Pacific Time, followed by a match against No. 65 Michigan State at the MSU Indoor Tennis Center in East Lansing on Sunday at the same time.
These matches are important as UCLA continues its conference schedule and seeks to improve its standing within the Big Ten. Fans can follow live video and scoring for both contests through links provided by the host schools, while additional updates will be available via the UCLA women’s tennis X account.
In recent competition, UCLA split its first home stand of the Big Ten season, losing to then-No. 2 Ohio State before defeating Penn State with a decisive 4-0 scoreline. Standout performances included Mayu Crossley and Kate Fakih each earning two wins against Penn State, with Fakih also securing a doubles victory alongside Olivia Center.
Senior Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer was named a finalist for the Universal Tennis Foundation Hurd Awards on March 8 during live coverage of the BNP Paribas Open. As one of two finalists nationwide, she receives a $40,000 grant supporting her transition from college to international competition, with potential for an additional $100,000 award after the NCAA season concludes in May.
Several Bruins have reached career milestones this season: junior Ahmani Guichard recently surpassed 100 total wins across singles and doubles play, while Lutkemeyer is approaching her own milestone of 150 combined victories as a Bruin.
Head coach Stella Sampras Webster is marking her thirtieth season leading UCLA women’s tennis. She has guided teams to NCAA championships in both 2014 and 2008 and has been recognized multiple times as Wilson ITA Southwest Regional Coach of the Year as well as earning national honors in coaching.
