The UCLA women’s tennis team defeated Indiana University 4-1 in a Big Ten Conference match at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on April 17. The win marks the Bruins’ fifth consecutive victory as they approach the end of their regular season.
This result is significant for UCLA, which now holds a record of 14-6 overall and 8-4 in conference play, while Indiana drops to 14-10 overall and 4-8 in the conference. With only one regular season match remaining, UCLA aims to maintain its momentum heading into postseason competition.
Freshman Kayla Chung clinched her first dual singles win for the Bruins, sealing the team’s victory with her performance. Olivia Center and Mayu Crossley also secured singles wins for UCLA. The doubles teams dominated their matches, winning without conceding a game on Courts 2 and 3. Nicole Teodosescu earned Indiana’s sole point with a singles win against Bianca Fernandez.
Center improved her dual singles record to double digits this season by defeating Hi’ilani Williams on Court 5. Crossley extended her personal winning streak to nine matches and leads all Bruins freshmen in both total and dual singles victories. Both Crossley and Chung contributed two wins each during the contest.
UCLA will close out its regular season against Purdue on Sunday, with first serve scheduled for noon Pacific Time. A Senior Day ceremony honoring Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer and three staff members will take place before the match.
