UCLA women’s volleyball has finalized its coaching staff under new head coach Matt Werle. Stevi Robinson-Trail has been promoted to Associate Head Coach, while Bryan Dell’Amico joins as an assistant coach.
Robinson-Trail is entering her third season with the Bruins. She played a significant role in UCLA’s return to the NCAA Tournament and their transition into the Big Ten Conference. In 2025, she helped lead the team to 19 wins, including victories over ranked opponents such as Minnesota, USC, and Penn State. The Bruins advanced to the NCAA Tournament and won their first-round match against Georgia Tech after finishing sixth in conference play.
Robinson-Trail worked closely with defensive specialists and liberos. Under her guidance, libero Lola Schumacher earned First Team AVCA All-Pacific Region honors and led the Big Ten in digs and digs per set. Schumacher also received All-Big Ten First Team recognition. Robinson-Trail was also instrumental in developing outside hitter Cheridyn Leverette, who achieved AVCA All-America honors and First Team All-Big Ten recognition during her junior year. Both Leverette and middle blocker Anna Dodson received AVCA All-Region accolades; Dodson later signed a professional contract with Cuneo Granda Volley in Italy’s Serie A1 league.
“I’m incredibly grateful to our new head coach, Matt Werle, for the opportunity to be part of his first coaching staff at UCLA and to continue this journey as Associate Head Coach,” Robinson-Trail said. “Kenny Donaldson and Martin Jarmond for their continued support and belief in me. These women and this program mean the world to me. I look forward to continuing the work we’ve been doing – developing elite athletes, investing in them as people, and strengthening the connections that make UCLA special. I’m proud to keep growing alongside this team and excited for what’s ahead for our program. Go Bruins!”
Dell’Amico comes to UCLA after a successful period at Grand Canyon University (GCU), where he served as Assistant Coach and later Co-Head Coach for men’s volleyball. At GCU, he contributed to several milestones: helping achieve a No. 1 national ranking for the first time in school history, winning an MPSF Championship, securing an NCAA Tournament win, and reaching the NCAA Final Four for the first time. He was named 2025 AVCA Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year after leading GCU through one of its best offensive seasons.
“It’s such an honor to get the opportunity to be a part of such a storied program like UCLA,” Dell’Amico said. “I want to thank the administration for believing in us to lead this group of women. I also want to thank Matt [Werle]. I’m honored that he has included me on this amazing journey with him. The UCLA family made a great choice in Matt. Together Matt, Stevi and I will give everything we have to help these young ladies achieve their dreams. Go Bruins!”
During his tenure at GCU, Dell’Amico coached multiple All-Americans—including four AVCA First Team selections—and helped set records with 26 wins in 2024 and 22 wins in 2023 across consecutive seasons. His experience extends beyond college volleyball; he participated three times with USA Volleyball’s National Team Development Program working with U17 and U21 athletes.
Dell’Amico is originally from Torrance, California, attended Cal State Dominguez Hills on a basketball scholarship, earned his B.S., married Debbie more than three decades ago, and has three children: Allyson, Emily, and Eric.
