The UCLA women’s golf team is leading after two rounds at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge, held at Palos Verdes Golf Club in California. The Bruins, ranked No. 23 nationally, have a total score of 566, which puts them eight strokes ahead of the other 15 teams in the tournament.
Sophomore Jenny Lee moved into first place individually after shooting her second consecutive round of 2-under-par 69. She played her first nine holes without a bogey and made three birdies. Lee currently leads Texas’ Farah O’Keefe by one stroke.
Angela Liu, also a sophomore, matched Lee’s score with a 2-under-par 69 and climbed to third place overall. Freshman Kacey Ly had the largest improvement among the Bruins on day two, moving up 28 spots to tie for eighth place after posting her best collegiate round—a 2-under-par 69 that included four birdies and no bogeys over her last ten holes.
UCLA will begin the final round on Tuesday with all six team members starting from hole 10 in a shotgun format. Individual competitor Jennifer Seo will tee off first at 10 a.m., while Lee will be the last Bruin to start at 11 a.m.
After the first round on Sunday, UCLA was already in first place with a team score of 282, making them the only squad under par for that day. They led No. 7 Texas A&M by four shots going into Monday’s play. Four UCLA golfers—Lee, Liu, Meghan Royal, and GaEun Athena Yoo—were positioned in the top ten after day one.
