UCLA women’s golf fifth after opening rounds at Windy City Collegiate Classic

The UCLA women’s golf team completed the first two rounds of the Windy City Collegiate Classic at Glen View Club, finishing with a score of 3-under-par, 573 (288-285). The team is currently in fifth place among 11 teams.

Northwestern University, ranked ninth nationally and hosting the tournament, leads with a two-shot advantage at 13-under-par over SMU.

Jenny Lee, a sophomore transfer for UCLA, shares the individual lead after posting a combined score of six under par (70-68). Lee recorded eight birdies throughout the day and was one of only six players in the field to make an eagle. Her eagle came during her second round on the par-5 15th hole, contributing to her career-low round of 68.

Sophomore Maye Huang finished under par as well, shooting a total of two under (73-69) through 36 holes. Huang made three birdies in her final five holes to finish three under in her second round and is tied for 12th place among individuals.

Senior Megan Royal shot an even-par 72 in her afternoon round and sits at two over for the day. Sophomore Angela Liu finished three over par after being even except for a four-over stretch between holes 15 and 17 in her second round.

The individual standings for UCLA are: Jenny Lee tied for first at six under; Maye Huang tied for twelfth at two under; Megan Royal tied for twenty-eighth at two over; Angela Liu tied for thirty-sixth at three over; and Ly tied for forty-ninth at six over.

The Bruins will play the third round tomorrow morning at Glen View Club, with tee times beginning at 5:30 a.m. Pacific Time.
