The UCLA Bruins women’s beach volleyball team is set to begin its 2026 season at the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. The event, held at Queen’s Beach from February 19 to 21, will see UCLA face six teams ranked in the national Top 20.
UCLA, which holds the preseason No. 1 ranking in the AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball Preseason Poll after finishing third nationally last year, opens against No. 6 Texas on Thursday morning and later plays host Hawai’i that evening. On Friday, matchups include a contest with No. 7 LMU—last year’s NCAA runner-up—and a meeting with reigning MPSF champion and second-ranked Stanford. The tournament concludes Saturday with matches against No. 9 California and fourth-ranked USC.
No live streams are available for the tournament, but live scores can be accessed throughout the event via Statbroadcast. Direct links are provided on the schedule page at UCLABruins.com.
The Bruins return seven of ten starters from a squad that went 32-7 last season and reached the NCAA semifinals. Among those returning are Maggie Boyd and Sally Perez, who were named the MPSF Pair of the Year in 2025 after compiling a record of 31-4 together. Both athletes appear on this season’s AVCA Beach Player of the Year Watch List. Boyd enters her senior campaign with a career mark of 92-17 and is eight wins away from becoming only the eleventh Bruin to reach one hundred career victories.
Other key returners include Kenzie Brower (26-11 last season), Alexa Fernandez (20-14), Kaley Mathews (18-10), Harper Cooper (22-9), and Ensley Alden (21-11). Departures from last year’s lineup include Peri Brennan and Natalie Myszkowski as well as Jessie Smith.
New additions to this year’s roster feature junior transfer Ava Williamson, who earned second-team All-American honors at Arizona State in 2024, along with freshmen Olivia Le Blanc, Mallory LaBreche, and Alina Ryan—all recognized as Junior Beach All-Americans.
Head coach Jenny Johnson Jordan begins her third season leading UCLA after serving as an assistant during back-to-back NCAA titles in 2018 and 2019. She was named MPSF Coach of the Year for guiding last year’s team to a semifinal appearance at nationals and holds an overall head coaching record of 67-14 entering this season. Assistant coaches include Kelly Reeves—UCLA’s first beach volleyball All-American—and former AVP player Theo Brunner.
UCLA has maintained a strong presence atop collegiate rankings since 2018, having spent more weeks at No.1 than any other program over that span except USC.
Looking ahead, UCLA will host Boise State and Cal Poly on February 27 before facing Long Beach State and Pepperdine on February 28 during the Battle for LA event at Mapes Beach.
