UCLA women’s rowing is set to begin its spring season by hosting USC on Friday, March 6, at Marina del Rey. The event will take place at Ballona Creek, located at 14001 Fiji Way, Marina del Rey.
The competition starts at 9:05 a.m. Pacific Time with six races scheduled throughout the morning. The first events will feature the fourth varsity eight and novice eight crews. Subsequent races include the third varsity four at 9:25 a.m., followed by the second varsity four and first varsity four at 9:45 a.m. and 10:05 a.m., respectively. The focus then returns to eight-person boats with the second varsity eight at 10:25 a.m., concluding with the first varsity eight race at 10:45 a.m.
A total of 23 points are available across these six races as both teams compete for the Amy Fuller Kearney-Lori Guerro Azbill Trophy. This trophy commemorates former UCLA head coach Amy Fuller Kearney, who led the program from its NCAA debut in 2001-02 through 2020-21, and former USC assistant coach Lori Guerro Azbill. “The winning team will be presented the Amy Fuller Kearney-Lori Guerro Azbill Trophy for the UCLA-USC competition immediately after the meet.”
This marks the fourth time in five years that UCLA opens its season against USC in a dual-meet regatta. Previous seasons began with similar matchups in 2022, 2023, and 2025. UCLA aims to secure its first win over USC since sweeping three races in their last victory in 2021.
Spectators planning to attend are advised to use public parking adjacent to Whiskey Red’s restaurant at the end of Fiji Way. If this lot is full, additional free parking is available near Dock 52, which is about a ten- to fifteen-minute walk from UCLA’s boathouse.
