UCLA women’s golf to compete in Therese Hession Regional Challenge

The UCLA women’s golf team, ranked No. 23 nationally, will return to tournament play at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge this weekend. The event takes place at Palos Verdes Golf Club from Sunday, February 1 through Tuesday, February 3. The competition consists of three days and 54 holes of stroke play.

UCLA will begin the tournament on Hole 1 at 9 a.m. Pacific Time on Sunday.

The Bruins’ lineup includes Kacey Ly, Jenny Lee, Meghan Royal, GaEun Athena Yoo, and Angela Liu. Jennifer Seo will compete as an individual entry for UCLA.

This season, the Bruins hold a record of 24 wins, 13 losses, and three ties.

Sixteen teams are participating in the field. Among them are Arizona State (ranked No. 13), Florida (No. 6), Oregon (No. 3), USC (No. 2), Texas A&M (No. 7), and others alongside UCLA.

Maye Huang leads UCLA statistically with a scoring average of 71.8 over eleven rounds and has recorded the most birdies on the team with forty-five this season.

Jenny Lee and Meghan Royal each have one top-10 finish this year; Lee also has two top-20 finishes and shares the highest par-or-better percentage on the team with Maye Huang at just under eighty percent.

In recent World Amateur Golf Rankings as of January 30th, Angela Liu is listed at No.156 globally among amateurs; Meghan Royal is ranked No.386; Maye Huang is ranked No.397.

Sunny weather is forecast during the event with temperatures expected in the mid-to-high seventies Fahrenheit.

The Palos Verdes course will be set up as a par-71 over a total distance of six thousand seventy-one yards.
