The UCLA women’s golf team has received recognition in the Big Ten weekly awards, with Jenny Lee named Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Week and Kacey Ly earning Big Ten Freshman of the Week. This is Lee’s second career weekly honor and Ly’s first.
Both athletes played key roles in UCLA’s victory at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge held at Palos Verdes Golf Club. The Bruins secured their first tournament win of the 2025-26 season by an 11-stroke margin, outperforming six other teams ranked in the top 25.
Jenny Lee led her team, tying for first place after 54 holes with a score of five under par (69-69-70), before losing in a playoff. Her total score matched her previous best over 54 holes, achieved last fall at the Windy City Collegiate Classic. According to UCLA Athletics, “Lee’s performance marked her third top-20 result of the season and second time finishing first or in a tie for first through regulation.”
Kacey Ly finished fourth overall, recording career-best marks during the event with rounds of 74, 69, and 67 for a three-under-par total. She posted her first two sub-70 scores as a Bruin and achieved both her first top-10 and top-20 finishes. As noted by UCLA Athletics, “Ly closed the tournament by recording UCLA’s lowest 18-hole score of the event with a -4, 67 in the third round.”
The Bruins will next compete at the Alice and John Wallace Classic from February 14 to 16 at Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert, California.
