UCLA women’s golf in eighth place after two rounds at GameAbove Invitational

The University of California, Los Angeles women’s golf team was in eighth place at 21-over par (597) after the first two rounds of the GameAbove Invitational on Mar. 9 at Rolling Hills Country Club.

The tournament features 11 teams, with UCLA improving its score in the afternoon round by shooting a 6-over 294 after an opening round of 15-over 303. Tournament host and second-ranked University of Southern California led the field at 13-under par (563), holding a significant lead over second-place Texas A&M going into Tuesday’s final round. USC golfers Kylie Chong and Bailey Shoemaker were first and second individually after two rounds, at seven under and five under par respectively.

Junior Jennifer Seo led UCLA on day one, posting scores of 73 and 74 to finish three over par, placing her tied for sixteenth individually. Sophomore Jen Lee and senior Meghan Royal were both tied for twenty-second at four over par. Lee recorded UCLA’s only under-par round of the day with a one-under-par 71 in the second round, which included an eagle on the fifteenth hole.

UCLA improved its team score by nine strokes between rounds, giving them momentum as they prepare for Tuesday’s final round. The Bruins’ individual leaderboard also included Ly tied for forty-sixth at twelve over par and Huang tied for forty-ninth at thirteen over par.

The final round is scheduled to begin Tuesday at 8 a.m. Pacific Time, with fans able to follow along via live stream on Championship Golf Network.
