UCLA Athletics announced on April 6 that fans are invited to Pauley Pavilion on Wednesday, April 8, to celebrate the UCLA women’s basketball team’s first NCAA Championship.

The event is free for those who RSVP and will begin at 6 p.m. Pacific Time, with doors opening at 5 p.m. Attendees can enter through the main entrance on the North side of Pauley Pavilion and will be seated in sections 122-108. Early arrivals will receive a championship poster, and there will be opportunities for fans to take photos with both the NCAA Regional and Championship trophies. Fans can also sign a large NCAA Tournament bracket that commemorates each victory in the tournament.

The Bruins secured their historic win by defeating South Carolina, another No.1 seed, with a score of 79-51 during Sunday’s championship game held at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The team never trailed throughout the match and finished their season with an impressive record of 37-1.

This marks UCLA’s second national title in women’s basketball under head coach Cori Close, who is serving her fifteenth season as The Michael Price Family UCLA Women’s Head Basketball Coach. The previous title was won in 1978 under the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW), before the NCAA began organizing women’s championships in 1982.

The university encourages all Bruin supporters to join Wednesday’s celebration as it honors this milestone achievement.
