No. 2 UCLA will participate in the Center of Effort Beach Volleyball Challenge at the Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex on the Cal Poly campus in San Luis Obispo on April 10 and 11. The tournament features eight of the top fifteen teams nationally, including No. 1 Stanford, No. 4 USC, No. 6 Cal Poly, and others.
This event is significant as it brings together some of the strongest programs in collegiate beach volleyball for high-level competition ahead of postseason play.
UCLA opens against No. 9 California on Friday at 4:15 p.m., followed by a match against host No. 6 Cal Poly at 7 p.m. On Saturday morning, UCLA faces No. 13 Arizona State at 10:15 a.m., with placement matches scheduled later that day based on earlier results.
The Bruins are facing California for the first time this season after their initial meeting was canceled due to rain during week one’s Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic. This will be their third meeting with Cal Poly this year; UCLA holds a perfect record against them but had a close contest last week, winning narrowly by a score of three to two.
Senior Maggie Boyd continues her climb up UCLA’s all-time win list with three more victories last weekend, bringing her career total to sixth place in program history and just three wins shy of breaking into the top five overall.
Head coach Jenny Johnson Jordan is leading her third season after being named MPSF Coach of the Year in 2025 and has guided UCLA to consistent national prominence since taking over as head coach, including an NCAA semifinal appearance last year and finals berth her first season.
Looking ahead, UCLA will return home for its final regular-season match against CSU Bakersfield on April 14 where seniors Maggie Boyd, Kenzie Brower and Jayla Shanks will be honored.
