The UCLA women’s swimming and diving team, currently ranked No. 22 nationally, is set to compete at the Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships from February 18 to 21. The event will take place at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis.

Competition begins Wednesday evening with finals in the 200-yard medley relay and 800-yard freestyle relay. For the following three days, morning preliminary sessions will determine seeding for evening finals. All seven sessions are available for streaming via the B1G+ digital platform.

Indiana enters as the highest-ranked team at No. 7, followed by Michigan (No. 10), USC (No. 12), Wisconsin (No. 13), Ohio State (No. 14), UCLA (No. 23), and Minnesota (No. 24).

The schedule includes events such as the butterfly, individual medley, freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, relays, and diving competitions across four days.

UCLA comes into the championships after notable performances during their season’s final dual meets against USC and Nevada. At a recent quad meet hosted by UC San Diego, UCLA secured victories over UC San Diego and Tulane but lost to Wisconsin.

At another quad meet held by UCLA, wins were recorded against Utah, Iowa, and UC Santa Barbara.

Despite losses to Stanford and Cal in January matches, several Bruins athletes stood out with strong performances. In particular, Claudia Yovanovich set a facility record in the 400 medley relay during a dual against Stanford with a time of 51.67 seconds in the 100 backstroke.

Rose Murphy made significant contributions against Cal by winning multiple events and setting a school record in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:51.59—over six seconds ahead of teammate Erica Jaffe’s second-place finish at 1:57.86—and also winning the 200 IM event with a time of 1:55.18.

Jada Duncan added an individual win for UCLA in the same meet by finishing first in the 50 free and placing second in the 100 free.
