The No. 10 UCLA softball team rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh inning to secure a 13-11 victory over Cal State Fullerton in a non-conference game at Anderson Family Field on April 7.
The win was significant as UCLA, now holding a record of 34-5, overcame a one-run deficit in their final at-bat. The Bruins’ ability to come from behind demonstrates their resilience and strong offensive capabilities.
In the decisive seventh inning, sophomore Rylee Slimp started with a double to right-center field. Senior Jordan Woolery followed with an RBI triple that tied the game, marking her seventh career triple. Kaniya Bragg then hit a two-run home run to give UCLA the lead. Redshirt freshman Aleena Garcia contributed earlier with a solo home run in the sixth inning that helped set up the comeback.
Senior Taylor Tinsley closed out the game by pitching 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit and striking out two batters. Tinsley improved her season record to 19-3.
Megan Grant also had an impressive night at bat, going 2-for-4 and hitting her 26th home run of the year, which ties her own Big Ten single-season record set in her junior year in 2025. Five of UCLA’s nine hits were home runs during this high-scoring contest; Alexis Ramirez delivered a grand slam in the first inning while Jolyna Lamar added a go-ahead two-run homer in the third.
Looking ahead, UCLA will begin a three-game Big Ten Conference series at Illinois starting Friday, April 10 at 3 p.m., with all games available for viewing on BigTenPlus.com.
