UCLA’s track and field team scored points in two events and advanced to a final during the opening day of the 2026 Big Ten Indoor Championships at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. The first day saw a light schedule for the Bruins, who participated in only four events.
In women’s pole vault, graduate student Paige Sommers led UCLA with a fourth-place finish after clearing 4.35 meters, her second-best performance this season. Teammate Paige Echsner matched her season-best mark of 4.15 meters to take seventh place, contributing additional points for the team.
The men’s distance medley relay squad—composed of Everett Capelle, Chris Paige, Arrin Sagiraju, and Jack Falkowski—finished seventh with a time of 9:43.61. This was the fastest time by any UCLA quartet in that event this season.
Junior Taylor Snaer qualified for Saturday’s final in the women’s 200-meter dash by placing third in her heat with a time of 23.29 seconds, marking her third-fastest run at that distance this year.
Although UCLA did not score in the women’s 600-meter race, both athletes performed well. Keilee Hall ran her second-fastest time of the year at 1:30.17 to secure a top-10 finish, while Kapiolani Coleman set a personal best at 1:31.08 and moved up to fourth on UCLA’s all-time list for that event.
The Bruins are scheduled to compete Friday in several more events, including both men’s and women’s long jump, high jump, mile races, weight throw, sprints, hurdles, and middle-distance competitions.
