Junior outside hitters Cheridyn Leverette and Maggie Li from UCLA have been named to the AVCA Division I Player of the Year Award Watch List, as announced on Tuesday morning. This list is presented by Nike Volleyball.
Leverette and Li are among 30 athletes selected from 20 institutions. UCLA is one of nine programs with multiple honorees.
Leverette gained recognition after her breakout 2024 season, earning AVCA All-America Honorable Mention and First Team All-Big Ten honors. She became a reliable starter in 2023, ranking third on the team with 288 kills and leading in service aces. By 2024, she led the Bruins in five statistical categories, totaling 435 kills with notable performances including a remarkable 29-kill outing at Purdue.
Li will join UCLA following two successful seasons at Cal. As a freshman in 2023, she led all Division I newcomers in several categories and was recognized as AVCA Pacific West Region Freshman of the Year. In 2024, she ranked among the ACC’s top three in kills and total points, registering a total of 463 kills.
Both players have shown outstanding performances that earned them spots on this prestigious watch list.
