The UCLA men’s volleyball team won its ninth Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Tournament Championship on Apr. 25, defeating rival USC in four sets with scores of 25-23, 22-25, 28-26, and 26-24.
This victory marks UCLA’s first MPSF tournament title since 2023 and brings their season record to 29-1. The win also means the Bruins have beaten USC three times this season.
Sean Kelly, Cameron Thorne, and Andrew Rowan were named to the MPSF Tournament team for their performances. Rowan was recognized as the most outstanding player at the tournament. Zach Rama led UCLA with 18 kills during the match while sophomore Sean Kelly contributed another 12 kills. Rowan recorded a total of 42 assists, helping guide the Bruins to a .271 hitting percentage.
Throughout the match, both teams exchanged leads and momentum shifts. In key moments of each set, players like Rama and Kelly delivered crucial points for UCLA. Notably in the final set, after both teams traded points late into play, Kelly secured victory for UCLA with a service ace.
Looking ahead, UCLA will compete in the NCAA regional final on Saturday, May 2. Their opponent will be determined during the NCAA selection show scheduled for Sunday, April 26 at 1:00 pm Pacific Time.
