The UCLA men’s volleyball team, currently ranked No. 1, continued its undefeated run after a series of victories and is set to play at No. 14 Stanford this weekend as part of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) conference schedule, according to a March 25 announcement. Both matches will be broadcast on B1G+.
This season marks a significant milestone for the Bruins, who have opened with an 18-0 record for the first time since their perfect championship run in 1984. The team’s success has included wins over several ranked opponents and participation in high-profile tournaments such as the OUTRIGGER Invitational hosted by Hawai’i, where they defeated No. 14 Lewis and No. 3 Hawai’i.
Key players have contributed to UCLA’s strong performance. Sean Kelly was named AVCA National Player of the Week after tallying a career-high number of kills in recent matches against USC, while Andrew Rowan has led the team in assists per set nationally and earned multiple accolades including three-time AVCA first-team All-American honors. Zach Rama also received recognition as AVCA National Player of the Week and MPSF Offensive Player of the Week for his performances early in the season.
The Bruins’ dominance extends beyond individual awards; they lead or are near the top nationally in several statistical categories including assists per set (13.03), kills per set (13.71), and hitting percentage (.394). Their match against Ohio State featured a historic second set that ended with a new NCAA record for most points scored in a single set at 48-46.
Off-court efforts were highlighted during their rivalry series with USC when both teams joined together to raise awareness for the Live Like Braun Foundation, honoring Braun Levi—a Loyola High School senior who was killed by an alleged drunk driver—with connections among players from both programs.
Looking ahead, UCLA aims to continue its winning streak through conference play and maintain its position atop national rankings as it seeks another NCAA title.
