The UCLA men’s volleyball team, currently ranked No. 1, will host No. 8 Brigham Young University on Thursday and Saturday to conclude the regular season, according to an April 14 announcement. The Bruins enter the weekend with an 11-1 conference record and a 24-1 overall mark. Both matches are scheduled to be streamed on B1G+.

This update is significant as UCLA continues its strong performance in collegiate men’s volleyball, building on a history that includes 21 NCAA titles. The team recently rebounded from its first loss of the year with a four-set victory over No. 6 Pepperdine, led by Sean Kelly’s 15 kills and senior setter Andrew Rowan’s 47 assists.

Earlier this month, UCLA swept back-to-back matches against No. 14 Stanford in the Bay Area, achieving a perfect start of 20-0 for the first time since 1984. During these matches, Rowan surpassed the milestone of 4,000 career assists—becoming only the second Bruin in the rally scoring era (since 2001) to do so—with his current total at 4,220 assists.

The Bruins have also recorded notable wins throughout their season: they captured the OUTRIGGER Invitational title in Hawai’i after defeating two ranked opponents; achieved consecutive victories over USC; and secured comeback wins against UC Irvine and Long Beach State. Several players have earned national recognition: Sean Kelly was named AVCA National Player of the Week following standout performances against USC; Zach Rama received both AVCA National Player of the Week and MPSF Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts at early-season tournaments.

UCLA leads national statistics in hitting percentage (.385), assists per set (12.88), and ranks highly in kills per set (13.66) and aces per set (1.94). Individual players such as Rowan—who averages more than eleven assists per set—and Kelly—who holds one of nation’s top hitting percentages—are featured prominently among statistical leaders.

Looking ahead, UCLA aims to maintain its momentum through postseason play after making three straight NCAA Championship final appearances since last year.
