Incoming freshman Sienna Betts is set to join the USA’s junior national team for the 2025 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup, taking place from July 12-19 in Brno, Czechia. Betts is among nine athletes with previous USA Basketball experience named to the Women’s U19 National Team. Originally from Centennial, Colorado, she was part of the gold-medal-winning team at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup.
In Brno, USA Basketball will compete in Group A alongside Israel, Hungary, and Korea. The team will face Korea on July 12 and Hungary on July 13, both games scheduled for 11:15 a.m. PT. The group play concludes against Israel on July 15 at 5:30 a.m. PT. All matches will be broadcast on the FIBA Basketball YouTube Channel.
The FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup has been held since 1985 and features the world’s top 16 U19 national teams who qualify based on their performance at the biennial U18 zone championships. The USA won gold at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s World Cup and has claimed gold in nine of the last ten competitions, including the most recent three.
The team was selected by the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee led by Cori Close, “The Michael Price Family UCLA Women’s Head Basketball Coach,” and includes four incoming college sophomores and three incoming college freshmen. The remaining five players are from high school graduating classes of 2026 and 2028. Eligible athletes must be U.S. citizens born on or after January 1, 2006.
