The UCLA cross country team will begin its 2025 season on Friday, August 29, competing against UC Riverside in Big Bear, California. The event will feature a 3.2-mile road race with the men’s competition starting at 9 a.m. PT and the women’s race following at approximately 9:30 a.m. PT.
Athletes representing the Bruins in the men’s race include Aaron Cantu, Dev Doshi, Everett Capelle, Jack Falkowski, Kai Mitchell-Reiss, and Henry Coughlan. On the women’s side, Emie Berger, Ella McGillis, Ailish Hawkins, Annika Salz, and Olivia Foody are set to compete.
In last year’s races at this meet, Annika Salz finished fourth and Ailish Hawkins sixth for the women, while Everett Capelle took fourth place among the men.
Before the start of this season, junior Henry Coughlan and sophomore Olivia Foody were named to the Big Ten Cross Country Preseason Runners to Watch List. Coughlan transferred from Texas and missed most of the previous school year but had placed 36th at the South Central XC Regional in fall 2023. Foody earned All-Big Ten Freshman honors last year after finishing fifth among all first-year runners at the league championships. She also recorded the fastest time by a Bruin in the 3000m during spring track season with a mark of 9:42.10.
The team’s schedule for 2025 includes several meets across different locations: UC Riverside (Big Bear) on August 29; Gans Creek Classic (Columbia, Mo.) on September 26; UC Riverside (Riverside) on September 27 and October 18; Bill Dellinger Invite (Eugene, Ore.) on October 10; Big Ten Championships (East Lansing, Mich.) on October 31; NCAA West Regional (Sacramento) on November 14; and NCAA Championships (Columbus, Mo.) on November 22.
