The UCLA Bruins track and field team will compete in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational this weekend, marking their second event of the 2026 indoor season. The meet will take place at the Indoor Track at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, from January 23 to 24.
Teams participating alongside UCLA include Georgia, Grand Canyon, Arizona, San Diego State, SMU, and host team New Mexico Lobos. Events are set to begin at 2 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday and at 9 a.m. Pacific Time on Saturday.
UCLA’s track and field program enters the competition following a strong showing at last week’s Spokane Sports Showcase in Washington. Both the men’s and women’s teams finished first overall in team standings. The Bruins secured 11 event victories and achieved 25 top-three finishes during that meet. Notable performances included Otto Laing posting the second-best 60-meter hurdles time in school history (7.81 seconds), Celeste Polzonetti recording the seventh-fastest NCAA-wide time this season for women’s 60-meter hurdles (8.14 seconds), Michael Pinckney winning the weight throw with a mark of 21.61 meters (70-10.75), and Sydney Johnson taking first place in the long jump with a leap of 6.34 meters (20-9.75).
The schedule for this weekend’s invitational includes both track and field events spread across two days, beginning Friday afternoon with unseeded sprints, distance races, jumps, pole vaults, high jumps, and weight throws; Saturday features hurdle preliminaries and finals as well as relays and shot put competitions.
Live results for all events will be available online through RT Timing.
