UCLA beach volleyball ranked No.1 in AVCA preseason poll

The UCLA Beach Volleyball team has secured the top spot in the AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball Preseason Poll, receiving 12 out of 21 first-place votes. The Bruins finished last season with a record of 32-7 and will return seven starters for the upcoming year. Key returning players include Maggie Boyd and Sally Perez, who were named the 2025 MPSF Pair of the Year and earned first-team All-American honors. Other returning athletes are Kenzie Brower, Alexa Fernandez, Kaley Mathews, Harper Cooper, and Ensley Alden.

New additions to the team include transfer Ava Williamson, who was recognized as a second-team All-American in 2024 while at Arizona State. The incoming freshman class features Junior Beach All-Americans Olivia Le Blanc, Mallory LaBreche, and Alina Ryan.

UCLA is scheduled to compete against five teams ranked in the Top 10 during its opening weekend at the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic in Hawaii. The Bruins will start their season facing No. 6 Texas on Thursday, February 19. They will then play against No. 7 LMU and No. 2 Stanford on Friday, February 20, followed by matches against No. 9 California and No. 4 USC on Saturday, February 21.

The preseason poll ranks UCLA first with a total of 396 points. Stanford follows in second place with two first-place votes and 379 points. Cal Poly is third with two first-place votes and 366 points, while USC is fourth with 348 points.
