The University of California, Los Angeles baseball team, ranked No. 1 nationally, will begin an eight-game homestand with a matchup against UC Santa Barbara on April 14 at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Pacific Time and will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
The contest comes as UCLA continues its strong season performance, holding a record of 33-2 and maintaining the longest active winning streak in Division I baseball at 27 games. This stretch is also the longest in program history and includes sweeps over several Big Ten opponents.
Recent highlights for the Bruins include pitcher Logan Reddemann matching a school record with 18 strikeouts in a single game against Rutgers on April 10. Reddemann’s effort contributed to a team total of 30 strikeouts in that contest, just one shy of the NCAA single-game record. He received multiple honors following his performance, including Golden Spikes Player of the Week and College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Week.
Offensively, Will Gasparino has led UCLA with a .369 batting average, fourteen home runs, and forty-seven runs batted in this season. Roch Cholowsky has also been recognized as Big Ten Player of the Year and leads the conference in runs scored with forty-seven.
UC Santa Barbara enters Tuesday’s game after securing a series win over UC San Diego last weekend. The Gauchos are expected to start junior right-hander Calvin Proskey while UCLA will start freshman right-hander Angel Cervantes.
As UCLA looks to continue its winning streak during this homestand, several players remain under consideration for national awards midseason—including Cholowsky and Gasparino for major player honors—while Wylan Moss was named to the National Pitcher of the Year Watch List by the College Baseball Foundation.
