The top-ranked UCLA baseball team will travel to Rutgers for a three-game series beginning Friday, April 10. The games are scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m. Pacific Time, Saturday at 3 p.m., and Sunday at 9 a.m., with all matchups available on B1G+.
This matchup comes as UCLA continues its best season start since 2010, holding a record of 30-2 and riding a program-record and Division I-leading 24-game winning streak. The Bruins have dominated their opponents, outscoring them by more than double during the streak and remaining undefeated in Big Ten conference play so far this year.
Recent highlights include sweeping Ohio State, Michigan, Maryland, Iowa, and USC for five straight Big Ten sweeps. Individual players have also received recognition: Payton Brennan was named Player of the Week while Zach Strickland earned Freshman of the Week honors after strong performances against USC. Mulivai Levu leads the team with a .373 batting average and nine home runs; Roch Cholowsky is leading the Big Ten in both runs scored (46) and total bases (91), while Roman Martin tops walks with thirty.
Pitching has been another strength for UCLA. Logan Reddemann is among only four pitchers nationwide with seven wins this season; Wylan Moss has allowed just three earned runs over more than thirty innings pitched. Moss was recently added to the National Pitcher of the Year Watch List by the College Baseball Foundation.
Looking ahead to their weekend matchups against Rutgers at Bainton Field, projected starters include Reddemann on Friday, Michael Barnett on Saturday, and Landon Stump on Sunday for UCLA. Rutgers brings an experienced lineup led by Peyton Bonds but faces questions regarding pitching depth after losing key arms from last year.
The Bruins’ stability is notable in an era marked by transfer movement; they return most of their production from last season—including nearly all plate appearances and innings pitched—giving them one of college baseball’s most experienced rosters.
