The UCLA baseball team continued its strong start to the season on Mar. 22, securing a 14-4 run-rule victory over Maryland at Jackie Robinson Stadium and completing a series sweep.

With this win, the Bruins improved their record to 21-2 overall and 9-0 in Big Ten play, extending their winning streak to 15 games. This marks the best league start in program history.

Mulivai Levu led the offense with three hits, reaching base five times, scoring twice, and driving in two runs. Dean West and Roch Cholowsky also had multi-hit games, while several other players contributed hits throughout the lineup. On the mound, Justin Lee earned his first win of the season by pitching 1.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts after Landon Stump started and allowed two earned runs over 4.1 innings.

UCLA took an early lead by scoring three runs in the first inning, highlighted by Roman Martin’s triple that drove in two runners. The team added three more runs in the second inning and continued to build its lead through productive hitting and capitalizing on Maryland errors. The Bruins’ offense remained consistent throughout the game, ultimately invoking the mercy rule after a three-run surge in the eighth inning pushed their lead to ten runs.

Maryland managed to score four runs during the game but was unable to keep pace with UCLA’s offensive output. The Bruins will wrap up their nine-game homestand with a matchup against Loyola Marymount on Tuesday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
