The UCLA baseball team lost to Sacramento State, 9-6, in the series finale at Jackie Robinson Stadium on April 26. The defeat marks only the fourth loss of the season for the Bruins, who are currently ranked No. 1.
The game was notable for Roch Cholowsky’s performance at the plate. Cholowsky hit two home runs, bringing his season total to seventeen and marking his fourth multi-homer game this year. Despite this effort, UCLA could not overcome a six-run deficit by the sixth inning.
Dean West, Roman Martin, and Kasen Khansarinia each had two hits during the game. Additional hits came from Mulivai Levu, Will Gasparino, Payton Brennan, and Jarrod Hocking. Landon Stump took his first loss of the season after giving up five runs over three innings.
UCLA initially led when Khansarinia delivered a two-out RBI single in the second inning. However, Sacramento State responded with a five-run third inning that included a home run from Jakob Posternak. The Hornets extended their lead with additional runs in later innings as UCLA struggled defensively.
Looking ahead, UCLA will begin a four-game road trip starting Tuesday against UC Santa Barbara at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.
