The UCLA baseball team, ranked No. 1, defeated Michigan 10-5 on March 13 at Jackie Robinson Stadium in Los Angeles. The Bruins improved their record to 15-2 overall and remained unbeaten in Big Ten conference play with a nine-game winning streak.
This win is significant as it keeps UCLA at the top of the standings and demonstrates the team’s strong performance early in the season. All nine starters contributed hits, with Roch Cholowsky and Will Gasparino each collecting three hits and two runs batted in. Roman Martin and Cashel Dugger added two hits apiece, while Payton Brennan drove in two runs.
Logan Reddemann earned his fifth win of the season by pitching six innings, striking out seven batters, and allowing only two runs. Michigan took an early lead with a two-run home run by Colby Turner, but UCLA responded with four runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Bruins expanded their lead further in the fourth inning by scoring six more runs.
Relief pitcher Ian May kept Michigan scoreless over two innings before Easton Hawk closed out the game despite a late rally from Michigan in the ninth inning. The Bruins’ next game against Michigan is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
The victory highlights UCLA’s depth and consistency as all players contributed offensively and defensively throughout the game.
