UCLA Baseball has announced the addition of Angel Cervantes and Dominic Cadiz to its 2026 roster. Both players, who were selected in the 2025 MLB Draft, have chosen to enroll at UCLA rather than sign professional contracts.
“Getting both Angel Cervantes and Dominic Cadiz on campus shows how special of a place UCLA is both academically and athletically,” said UCLA head coach John Savage. “Both are cornerstone players that will make an immediate impact to our program. We look forward to developing them and watching their growth.”
Cervantes, a right-handed pitcher from Lynwood, California, was picked No. 50 overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He is ranked as the No. 2 right-handed pitcher nationally by Prep Baseball and is considered the No. 5 overall prospect in California. His achievements include playing in the 2024 Perfect Game All-American Classic and National Showcase, being named a Preseason Underclass All-American twice by Perfect Game, earning All-CIF honors in his sophomore and junior years, pitching consecutive no-hitters in 2023 and 2024, finishing his junior season without giving up an earned run, participating at the USA Baseball U18 National Team training camp, and being named Area Code Games Pitcher of the Week on August 16.
Cadiz is an infielder from Sherman Oaks who attended Notre Dame High School. He was drafted No. 445 overall by the Milwaukee Brewers in the fifteenth round. Cadiz is ranked as California’s No. 4 third baseman and as the No. 76 overall prospect in his class according to recruiting services. During his junior year he had a .350 batting average with a .436 on-base percentage and a .650 slugging percentage, leading his league with twelve doubles and six home runs along with thirty-one RBIs. He received First Team All-Mission League honors for his performance.
With these additions, UCLA strengthens its team as it prepares for next season after returning eight starters from last year’s Men’s College World Series squad—their first appearance at Omaha since 2013.
