The UCLA Department of Athletics has entered into a multi-year partnership with Cumulus Media, making Talk Radio 790 KABC the new flagship station for the UCLA Bruins Audio Network. The broadcasts will begin on August 30, when UCLA hosts Utah at the Rose Bowl.

KABC-AM 790 will now serve as the official radio home for both UCLA football and men’s basketball, providing coverage across Southern California with its 6,600-watt signal. This move means that UCLA will be the main sports team featured on KABC-AM 790, rather than sharing airtime with other major professional teams in Los Angeles.

“We are very excited to have found a dedicated home on 790 KABC to carry our play-by-play coverage on Southern California radio,” said Martin Jarmond, The Alice and Nahum Lainer Family Director of Athletics. “When it came time to evaluate broadcast options that would best serve Bruin fans moving forward, we prioritized both widespread reach and a singular destination on the radio dial. 790 KABC is the right match to deliver both, and we’re grateful for the partnership.”

Josh Lewin will continue as the primary play-by-play announcer for his tenth season covering UCLA football and men’s basketball. He will be joined by former UCLA quarterbacks Matt Stevens and Wayne Cook in the booth. For men’s basketball games at Pauley Pavilion this fall, Lewin will work alongside former UCLA forward Tracy Murray.

“With KABC’s powerhouse signal and UCLA’s legacy teams, Southern Californians will get some of the best sports programming starting in the fall of 2025,” said Luis Segura, program director at KABC-AM 790. “We are tremendously excited to partner with UCLA as the new official broadcast home of Bruins football and men’s basketball, and we look forward to turning up the volume on Bruins coverage for our passionate 790 KABC listeners and Southern California sports fans.”

In addition to full coverage of football and men’s basketball schedules, four women’s basketball games in February and March will also air on 790 KABC with Dave Marcus as play-by-play announcer. The station plans to broadcast 28 episodes of the weekly “Bruin Insider Show,” typically scheduled for Thursdays at 7 p.m., hosted by Nick Koop along with Cook and Murray. The show offers exclusive interviews and insights into UCLA Football, Men’s Basketball, and other sports.

Fans can access all broadcasts nationwide through SiriusXM, TuneIn, as well as through both the UCLA Bruins app and KABC app.

JMI Sports acts as multimedia rights holder for UCLA Athletics under its local operation as UCLA Partnerships. The company played an important role in facilitating this agreement between UCLA Athletics and Cumulus Media.

UCLA’s football season begins August 30 against Utah at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena at 8 p.m. Pacific Time. The schedule includes six home games at the Rose Bowl—four within Big Ten conference play.
