The Seattle Seahawks will face the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX on Sunday, February 8, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. UCLA will be represented by wide receiver Jake Bobo of the Seahawks, who played a role in Seattle’s NFC Championship win two weeks ago.

Another UCLA alumnus, Zach Charbonnet, contributed significantly to the Seahawks’ season by leading the team with 12 rushing touchdowns. However, Charbonnet suffered a torn ACL during Seattle’s divisional round victory over the San Francisco 49ers and will not play in the Super Bowl. His 12 rushing touchdowns tied for sixth-most in the NFL this season.

Both Bobo and Quentin Lake of the Los Angeles Rams participated in this year’s conference championship round. Lake, serving as a Rams team captain and starting safety, recorded seven tackles and one pass break-up while playing every defensive snap against Seattle.

When Bobo takes his first snap on Sunday, it will mark the 115th time a former UCLA player has appeared in a Super Bowl—placing UCLA among the top ten NCAA schools for Super Bowl appearances by alumni. Former Bruins have been present on either roster in 52 out of 60 Super Bowls since linebacker Don Shinnick played for the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl I (1969). This includes streaks of participation spanning from 1980 to 1999 and from 2009 to 2019.

During this regular season, Bobo played in eleven games for Seattle as both a wide receiver and special teams contributor. He caught two passes for twenty yards overall, including a seventeen-yard touchdown reception against Arizona on September 25.

Bobo made his most notable impact during the NFC Championship Game against the Rams when he caught a seventeen-yard touchdown early in the third quarter. This gave Seattle a substantial lead and marked Bobo’s first playoff touchdown; it contributed to their eventual 31-27 win that secured their place in Super Bowl LX.

Super Bowl LX is scheduled to begin at 3:40 p.m. Pacific Time on NBC with Mike Tirico and Chris Collinsworth providing commentary.
