Seniors Megan Grant, Taylor Tinsley, and Jordan Woolery were selected in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League College Draft, according to a May 4 announcement from the University of California, Los Angeles Athletics.
The selection of these three players highlights UCLA’s continued presence in professional softball. Grant was chosen fourth overall by the Portland Cascade and was the first hitter picked in this year’s draft. Woolery went sixth overall to the Utah Talons, while Tinsley was also picked by the Talons as the twelfth overall selection.
Earlier this season, Grant, Tinsley, and Woolery received AUSL Golden Tickets after UCLA swept a double-header against California on April 18. The three Golden Ticket recipients represent the most awarded at one time by the league.
These seniors join nine other Bruins already assigned to AUSL rosters across various teams: Megan Faraimo (Talons), Sharlize Palacios (Talons), Jadelyn Allchin (Talons), Jessica Clements (Bandits), Maya Brady (Spark), Bubba Nickles-Camarena (Spark), Delanie Wisz (Spark), Rachel Garcia (Volt) and Ally Carda (Volt). Longtime assistant coaches Lisa Fernandez and Kirk Walker also serve as general managers for AUSL teams; Fernandez led the Talons to last summer’s inaugural title with help from several former Bruins.
The AUSL began its new format in Summer 2025 under commissioner Kim Ng. The league reported high attendance with all games sold out during its first season in this structure and an increase in television viewership compared to previous years. In 2026, AUSL will move to a city-based model with two expansion franchises for a total of six teams. The season is scheduled to start shortly after June 9 following the Women’s College World Series and conclude with a championship series from July 25-27.
