CALIFORNIA STATE ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 62: Coronavirus: What You Should Know (Updated)

Coranovirus11

California State Assembly District 62 issued the following announcement on March 16.

As your State Assemblymember, I am working with local health authorities, school districts and other entities to ensure that all are responding together to prevent and address risks associated with coronavirus. And I will quickly let you know if the situation changes.

Current advice is similar to preparing for other viruses:

  • Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Clean your hands often with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing (or an elbow or shoulder if no tissue is available).  Discard tissue and wash your hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home and do not come to work if you are sick with respiratory symptoms like fever and cough.
The latest resources are available from the California Department of Public Health and from the Centers for Disease Control.

Please contact my office if you have any questions or if I can be of service on this or any legislative matter of concern.

-Assemblywoman Autumn Burke

Updates:

March 16, 2020: To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Mayor Eric Garcetti took action to temporarily close bars, nightclubs, restaurants (except takeout/delivery), entertainment venues, and other establishments in the city of Los Angeles. These orders go into effect on March 16, 2020 and will stay in place until March 31 unless extended. There is no food shortage and grocery stores will remain open. The City of Los Angeles is taking these steps to help protect Angelenos, limit the spread of the novel coronavirus, and avoid putting a dangerous strain on our health care system.
