UCLA sophomore Sergi Solans Ormo has been named to the 2025 Hermann Trophy Watch List, according to an announcement by United Soccer Coaches. The list includes 29 student-athletes from across the country, with Solans Ormo being one of three sophomores or younger, one of eight forwards, and one of three players representing the Big Ten. He is also the first UCLA player to receive a nomination for this award since Pietro Grassi was listed in 2022.
Solans Ormo’s recognition comes after a series of preseason honors. Earlier in the summer, he was selected as a Second Team Preseason All-American by TopDrawerSoccer and was included on the United Soccer Coaches Players to Watch list for forwards.
Last season, while at Oregon State, Solans Ormo led his team with 14 goals and three assists over 16 appearances. His performance earned him third-team All-America honors, WCC Offensive Player of the Year, and United Soccer Coaches All-Region recognition in 2024. His 14 goals tied for fifth-highest in Oregon State men’s soccer history, and his 31 points ranked sixth all-time for the program in a single year. Nationally, he finished seventh in total goals and third in goals per game at 0.88.
After his successful season at Oregon State, Solans Ormo was drafted in the first round (30th overall) by Real Salt Lake in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft.
The UCLA men’s soccer team begins its 2025 season today against UC Irvine at 6:00 p.m. PT. The Bruins will play their home opener on August 24 at Wallis Annenberg Stadium at 7:00 p.m. PT; that match will be broadcast on B1G+.
