Mayu Crossley of the University of California, Los Angeles women’s tennis team was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the fifth time, according to a March 25 announcement from the conference. The award comes after Crossley’s successful road trip in which she won all four matches as UCLA faced Michigan and Michigan State.

The recognition highlights Crossley’s strong start to her collegiate career and her impact on both singles and doubles play for the Bruins. Her achievements set her apart in the conference, as no other Big Ten player has received more than two Freshman of the Week honors this season.

Crossley’s notable performance included a straight-sets victory over 20th-ranked Lily Jones from Michigan, marking her third win against top-20 opponents in dual play. She followed up with another singles win against Amara Brahmbhatt of Michigan State. In doubles competition, Crossley partnered with Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer for the first time; together they were first to finish on both days, defeating teams from both Michigan and Michigan State.

All four results were secured on Court 2 during these matches. The release also notes that fellow Bruins Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer and Ahmani Guichard have received Player of the Week accolades earlier in the season.

A summary table provided by UCLA Athletics lists all recipients of Big Ten Women’s Tennis Freshman of the Week awards for 2025-26, confirming Crossley’s multiple recognitions throughout September through March.
