Junior Logan Reddemann has been named the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week presented by La Victoria for competitions held between April 7 and 13, according to an announcement from University of California, Los Angeles Athletics on April 15.
The award recognizes Reddemann’s standout performance in a game against Rutgers on April 10. During this matchup, he matched the UCLA program record with 18 strikeouts over eight innings. This effort contributed to a total of 30 strikeouts by Bruins pitchers during a 14-inning win, coming just one short of the NCAA all-time single-game record. Reddemann allowed only two hits and one run, striking out 11 of the last 12 batters he faced. His achievement ties Rob Henkel’s mark set in a game against Washington in 2000.
In addition to his recognition at UCLA, Reddemann was also named Golden Spikes Player of the Week, College Baseball Pitcher of the Week, Perfect Game Pitcher of the Week, and Big Ten Pitcher of the Week for his efforts. This is his first career selection as UCLA student-athlete of the week.
Other athletes nominated for this week’s honor include Ensley Alden and Kaley Mathews from beach volleyball; Aleena Garcia from softball; Sydney Johnson from women’s track and field; Baylor Larrabee from men’s golf; Cade Sommers from men’s track and field; and Lauren Steele from women’s water polo.
