Kacey Ly, a member of the No. 14-ranked UCLA women’s golf team, has received her second consecutive Big Ten Freshman of the Week award. The announcement was made on Thursday.
Ly led the Bruins at the Alice & John Wallace Classic held at Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert, California. She finished tied for fourth place out of 96 competitors with an even-par score of 213 (73-69-71). Over the final two rounds, Ly recorded only two bogeys and achieved her third sub-70 round of the season by shooting a 69 in round two. This was also the lowest single-round score among all Bruins during the tournament.
Her performance at this event follows her previous career-best finish at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge on February 3, where she placed fourth and shot a 54-hole career low of -3, 210. That result helped UCLA secure its first tournament win of the 2025-26 season.
The UCLA women’s golf team is scheduled to compete next week as it co-hosts the Bruin Wave Invitational presented by Capillus at Valencia Country Club in Santa Clarita, California from February 23 to 24. The event will be open to spectators.
